In fact, forged wheels can be divided into one-piece type and multi-piece type according to the structure. If you want to change forged wheels, how should you choose?
One-piece forged wheel
The one-piece wheel means that the wheel’s structure is a whole, which is forged from a piece of aluminum alloy bar. It is also called a 1-piece wheel or Monoblock wheel. It is the most common wheel.
The advantage of the one-piece wheel is that the weight is relatively lighter than the multi-piece type, and the dynamic balance is better than the multi-piece type, and the reliability is good, and there is no hidden danger of air leakage; the disadvantage is that the investment in the early stage of product development is high and the shape is relatively simple.
Multi-piece forged wheel
Currently, multi-piece wheels are divided into two-piece and three-piece wheels. The two-piece forged wheel is composed of a rim and a spoke, which are connected together by bolts.
The multi-piece wheel hub can combine rims of different widths and thicknesses on one hub, or combine the width and offset to obtain more options. In other words, the multi-disc spokes can be interchanged. For example, if the hub is broken or you want to change the style, you don’t need to replace the entire hub, just replace the broken part, and then fasten it with high-strength bolts.
Due to the complicated process of multi-piece wheels, the manufacturing cost is relatively high. However, the forged wheels are produced because of the continuous stamping of aluminum blocks, so after forming, the molecular structure becomes very compact, so it can withstand higher pressures.
Furthermore, because the forged wheel has a compact structure and can withstand high stress, it can design some more personalized spokes in terms of styling design, and the degree of design freedom is also higher.
